The Heart Attitudes: Part 6Sample

The Heart Attitudes: Part 6

DAY 5 OF 5

Heart Attitude #5 – Participate in the Ministry

Ephesians 4:11-12 “And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ,”

1 John 3:16-18 “This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need – how can God’s love reside in him? Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action. “

Participating in the ministry is more than just showing up and experiencing a great worship time. It is more than just having a great feeling about my church or even loving my church.

True love is expressed in action. The invisible emotions that we feel, become manifested through visible actions that we do. If you love the Lord, you will be involved in demonstrating that love through your acts of ministry, your service to and through the local church.

Your campus ministry should be an extension of your local church or churches. As you participate in the ministry, you should be growing the body locally as well as globally. How can we tell the people in our community that we love them? By working within our ministry to demonstrate our love for each other and our community.

Notice that the verses in 1 John call us to lay down our lives for our brothers. Love calls us to sacrifice our lives for the sake of others. Paul tells us to be living sacrifices in Romans 12. What are you willing to give up to fully participate in the ministry? Whatever the cost, the benefits are worth it!
