#Goals - Part 1 - Se StudentsSample
If we want to understand Joseph and his relationship with his family, we need to look back at his family tree. Joseph was a part of one of the most famous family lines. He was descended directly from Abraham and Sarah. His great-grandfather and great-grandmother were very old when God promised them a child. As they waited, they grew impatient and tried to go around what God had planned for their family. Abraham had a child with Sarah’s servant, Hagar, and named him Ishmael. That was not what God intended, but He proved to be faithful. Sarah gave birth to Isaac when Abraham was 100 years old.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the story wrapped up there and they lived happily ever after? That is not how our broken world works, especially when it comes to family matters. Even in Abraham and Sarah’s brokenness, God remembered His covenant. He would make great nations from their descendants. In the next few days, we will take a look at some of those descendants and their own family drama.
