Love God Greatly: Jesus Our EverythingSample
The Greek word translated as “the Word of God” is logos. It is the same word used in John 1, where Jesus is described as the Word of God. For centuries, church fathers and medieval theologians interpreted logos in Hebrews 4:12 as Jesus, the Son of God. It was not until the Reformation that this use of logos was translated as “the Word of God.”
The Word of God is not limited to Scripture as we have it today. Logos includes all the revelation of God’s Word: His spoken Word, written Word, and incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. God’s Word is living and active. From the words on the pages of our Bibles to our living Savior, God’s Word is what sees and judges our hearts. He knows us inside and out, our motives, struggles, desires, and dreams.
We are exposed to God’s Word. We are laid bare before Him. This is good news! This is no reason to fear, because the Word of God, Jesus Himself, sees us and knows us. He is our advocate, going before us and presenting us to God as righteous and holy in Him.
Lord Jesus, You are the Word of God. You know me completely. You see everything I am and everything I do, and You still care for me. Thank You for going before me and being my advocate. Help me remember that I have no reason to fear and I can fully rest in You. Amen.
