Guard Your Heart
Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
As the wealthiest and most powerful person of his time, Solomon had everything. Sadly, at the later point of his life, Solomon was influenced by some people who did not love God. These people worshiped false gods and because of them Solomon’s heart was turned away from God. Solomon built many temples for the false gods. Not only this, he also worshipped the false gods. He turned away from God because he didn’t guard his heart. He had disobeyed God’s commandment.
Even the wisest man can be deceived and fall into the temptation of sin. It is disheartening to see someone, who has been blessed greatly by God, turn his heart away from God. It is very important to always guard your heart from the evil things. It means you have to guard your feelings, thoughts, attitude and your will from sins and to take control of them.
Guarding your heart means staying away from sin and staying close to the love of God. When God fills most of the space in your heart, you will think right and do right according to His words. Guard your heart with the word of God.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to guard my heart from the temptations of sin. I want to do Your will. Amen.
