When God Speaks
Ezekiel 12:25
This is because I, the Lord God, will speak.
Hannah named her son Samuel. As Hannah had promised, when Samuel was big enough, she took him to the house of the Lord to be raised there. Samuel was to serve the Lord under Eli the priest. One night while Samuel was sleeping, he heard someone call him. He thought it was Eli. He went to Eli, but Eli said he hadn’t called him. That happened three times. At the third time, Eli realized that it was God who had been calling Samuel. So Eli told Samuel to go back to bed and to say, ‘Speak, Lord. I am your servant and I am listening,’ if the voice called him again. Samuel obeyed Eli and told God that he was ready to listen to Him.
God does not only speak to adults. He also speaks to children. Samuel was still very young back then, but God chose to speak to him about His plans! God also loves to speak to all of you.
God might not speak audibly to you like He did to Samuel, but God speaks to you as you read or listen to the Bible, or through a Bible story you are taught in church. Just like Samuel, tell God, “Speak, Lord. I am listening.”
Prayer
Dear God, draw me close to You as I seek to know You more and more. Speak to me, God. I am listening. Amen.
