Purpose Over Panic: Embracing Your Call During CrisisSample
There is so much to learn about the Prophet Jeremiah. He had a compassionate heart toward the people of Israel. He dedicated his life to interceding and praying to God on their behalf. Jeremiah was called when the Israelites were being completely disobedient to God's commands. Can you imagine being the only light in the middle of intense darkness? Can you imagine having to proclaim the standard of righteousness amid total wickedness? Sometimes Jeremiah felt bound to an unbearable call. He was known as the “Weeping Prophet”. I am sure Jeremiah often pondered why he was selected to fulfill such a difficult purpose. Our purpose is not always glamorous. It may feel like we are out in the middle of the ocean, paddling a boat alone. Despite being ridiculed for speaking judgment against Israel, Jeremiah remained faithful. He even cursed the day he was born, yet he never stopped speaking the truth of God’s displeasure towards flagrant sin and unrighteousness. Due to Jeremiah’s commitment to his purpose, the observance of the Passover was restored.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, give us compassion for our cause! Help us to pick up and carry our cross. Let us cling tightly to the Word and allow it to fuel our passion for your kingdom. Lord, keep our eyes on the prize of eternity and keep us focused on the purpose You have given us to fulfill on this earth. There is no greater charge given than to live our life on purpose for You. In Christ's name, Amen!
