Purpose Over Panic: Embracing Your Call During CrisisSample
The book of Esther reveals a beautiful story of how a woman chose purpose during crises. The Bible details many great men of God, but it also highlights the importance of women stepping up and assuming their purpose in God. Esther was an orphan girl who found herself in a biblical Cinderella story during a tumultuous time for her people. There was a death decree sent out that would threaten the lives of her people. Esther, who came from a humble background, could have chosen to look out for herself when faced with the intense panic of her people. Instead, Esther chose to humble herself before God, through prayer and fasting to seek God for both wisdom and strategy to deliver her people. She chose purpose at the risk of losing her own life. Fortunately, because of her radical obedience, God responded to her prayers and provided the opportunity for Esther to make a dissolution petition known before the king.
Prayer:
Gracious Father, help us to be bold in our purpose! Help us eliminate the excuses that fear can present to intimidate us and keep us silent when we need to speak the most. Help us remain faithful to what You called us to do, even when it may cost us. Help us understand that obedience is better than sacrifice and that there is no greater reward than knowing we will hear “Well done, my good and faithful servant” when we are united with You in eternity. In Christ's name, Amen!
