I Need a Miracle

DAY 5 OF 6

Healing

Why is it difficult to deeply believe in miracles? Why do we doubt so quickly? We serve a big God, so why is it so hard to believe in miracles? I believe that we don’t believe in miracles because they scare us and remove our control. Miracles require us not only to believe but to trust in God. It’s “letting go and letting God.” That can be scary. Believing in miracles makes us relinquish our hands from the wheel. We have to release and surrender to God.

Let’s not be scared about God moving in our life. Don’t be a person who has to have their hands on the wheel the whole time. Even if you are a Type-A personality, a control freak who probably succeeds in most areas, understand that God can take over. He is powerful enough to handle your situation. The truth is that we are all out of control anyway, even though some of us believe we have all the control. God is the one in control.

Although there are probably many miracles performed by Jesus that were not written about, there are 36 that are in the New Testament. Of these 36, 23 are healings. Healing is a controversial topic.

God never does anything with a formula, particularly with healing. In John 4, we find the miracle about the official’s child being healed. This man, this important guy, knew who Jesus was and he sought Jesus out. Jesus sent him home and told him the child was healed. He was healed long-distance.

In John 5, an impoverished adult is healed. It’s not an important person or child. It is someone who does not know Jesus. Jesus actually went to him, up close, and healed him. The miracles in John 4 and John 5 are exact opposites of one another. Why? Because if Jesus healed with a certain recipe or formula, what would we do?  People would be lining up at some place and somebody would stand on their left leg, hop three times, and then expect God to heal them. Right? And they’d say, “Well, it didn’t work,” or, “It did work.”

Jesus doesn’t put a formula on it. He does miracles differently because He is the One always in control of the healing. He does not do miracles to obtain praise from men, but to bring praise to God. If you need healing, let go and believe that God can do a miracle in your life. He is your Healer. Seek Him.

About this Plan

I Need a Miracle

Do you believe in miracles? John said that Jesus performed many miracles that were never written down. However, the ones that we do get to read about were written so that we could believe that Jesus is indeed the Miracle Messiah. Join us on this plan to grow your faith and belief that miracles continue to exist in this day and age.
