Transforming Mission
John 17:17-19
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.”
To be sanctified is to be set apart for the intended purpose for which we were made. We were created to bring God glory by knowing Him, living for Him, and joining Him in His mission in the world. To be sanctified is not to be isolated from the world in a struggle against sin and temptation, but rather to be empowered and commissioned to live and share the truth of Jesus just as Jesus did. His mission now becomes our mission. Just as we cannot engage in mission without being sanctified by the truth of God’s Word each day, so also we cannot pursue sanctification and not fully embrace the mission purpose for which we’ve been sanctified. Jesus willingly surrendered his life for our sanctification.
Will we also surrender our life for the sanctification of others?
Lord Jesus, thank you for calling me to a higher purpose. I offer myself to you and your call to transformation and mission this day.
