Knowing Jesus
Philippians 3:8, 10-11
“…I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow to attain to the resurrection from the dead!”
When knowing Jesus Christ becomes our primary passion and goal in life, all else fades. From his first conversation with Jesus on the Damascus Road, Paul was captured by this amazing person. To know Christ means more than a simple prayer and promise of eternal life. To know Christ is to make him the consuming passion of our lives, our daily pursuit, and our primary focus. To know Christ means more than the hope of resurrection, it means the daily choice to share in Christ’s sufferings, to invite Jesus to share his sufferings from a lost humanity's sin and rebellion, with us. To know Christ is to die to self daily, to choose the Jesus way and to let his life flow through us.
Lord Jesus, I desire to know you more and more. I desire to know more of you when I end this day than when I began it.
