Josh Wilson - That Was Then, This Is NowSample
Grace Upon Grace
This week we have talked about the freedom, forgiveness, and purpose we find in Jesus Christ. We’ve learned that there is “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1), and “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). We’ve learned that we can’t save ourselves, but “thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 7:25), we don’t have to, because Jesus will. We’ve been reminded to “stop and consider the wondrous works of God” (Job 37:14), and that’s where I want to leave us. Let’s consider God’s wonders and works.
We were dead before we met Jesus, we’re alive now that we know Him, and, someday, when we see Him face to face, we’ll be made complete. He has forgiven those of us who have confessed our sins and made Him our Lord, and he gives us hope and purpose for each day as we live to glorify Him.
John 1:16 says, "from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” The very fact that we woke up this morning is because of God’s grace. The fact that we're taking our next breath right now is because of God’s grace. Not only are we alive and breathing, but we are forgiven and free! Grace upon grace. What more could we ask for?
Today, let’s rest in God’s grace. Because we’re forgiven, let’s forgive others. Because our past is in the past, let’s spend today on the future of God’s kingdom.
