Read To Me Daily Semester 4Sample
2CHRONICLES 16-17:
As we heard in 2nd Chronicles yesterday, Judah’s kingdom was truly blessed by Asa’s wise reign. The Lord rewarded the country for returning to Him.
PROVERBS 30b:
Today’s highlighted verse from Proverbs 30 is this:
Pro. 30:20 NLT An adulterous woman consumes a man,
then wipes her mouth and says, “What’s wrong with that?”
MATTHEW 13a:
Jesus gave a stinging reply to his critics in yesterday’s reading in Matthew 12. The part about a demon leaving a person and then returning with seven demons is often used to teach that there cannot be a spiritual vacuum in a person. I would agree with that. But really, the main thing Jesus was illustrating to his audience was what will happen to people who close their eyes to what God is doing and refuse to join in with it for all the wrong reasons. Those who operate from a basis of pride in themselves are open to the whisperings of Satan. They are those who call God’s work the work of Satan.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, You are the Lord of Lords, the King of kings, and You are the Messiah who was revealed beforehand by the titles Son of David and Son of Man. You are the strong man who can bind Satan and plunder his house. Lord, do so in our lives, and for the people whom we know who are in spiritual bondage. Reveal to us, Lord, the places where we ourselves have given Satan’s forces a foothold in our lives. We open our hearts to You to sweep clean our spiritual house and come in and leave no space unoccupied. Today, Lord, we say Amen to the Proverb that says “Every word of God proves true.” May we treasure all of your Word in our hearts, so that we can take out of a rich treasure stored up there to speak to people all around us.
