God, I Pray For My Kids

DAY 3 OF 5

God, Make My Child Shine

We want our children to shine as lights in a dark world. This requires diligent effort because sin is inherent to the world around them. Temptation follows our children around. Yet, believers are called to stand out—to be lights in the darkness! Jesus spoke on this topic when He compared our lives to light in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

How interesting that Paul uses an example many children struggle with daily. He urges us to, “do everything without grumbling and complaining.” And parents everywhere wholeheartedly agree!

When believers, no matter what age, live without grumbling and complaining, they stand out. In fact, the passage we read says we become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. What a great basis for a prayer for our children.

Suggested Prayer:

Father God, I pray that my children will learn to do everything without grumbling or arguing so they may become blameless and pure, children of Yours without fault in a warped and crooked generation. May they shine like stars as they hold firmly to the word of life. May I be faithful to train them in Your Word, so their foundation will be strong and they will have a growing relationship with You.

We also pray for children around the world who live in difficult circumstances. May You surround them with godly influences who train them to look to You for strength and wisdom. May they shine like stars in their worlds too, causing others to find You.

About this Plan

God, I Pray For My Kids

Do you ever run out of ideas for how to pray for your kids? You’re not the only one! Sometimes, we want to express more of our heart to God, but just can’t come up with the words. Over the next five days, we’ll study several verses and allow those insights to prompt new prayers for our kids.
