Are you covering up?

Have you ever been back-to-school shopping and you bought a new pair of shoes, new clothing, new bag, maybe even a brand new phone? How did you feel when you got that new stuff? I bet you were so excited and ready to show off all your new gear to your friends at school. At least I know when I was in school and I got all this new stuff I was excited to stunt on everyone that walked by me! Let me ask you this though, when you got the new shoes or phone or the new clothes did you put them in the box it came in and never use it? NO! That would be wild if we did this. We want to use the new stuff we get. It would be pointless if we bought new stuff just to never use it.

I asked you these questions because when it comes to being a light for Jesus we tend to do exactly that. We come down from camp so excited and ready to serve Jesus, but when we get around certain people we tend to cover up the fact that we even have a relationship with Jesus. But when it comes to being followers of Jesus we have the great privilege of being called lights, and we are supposed to let that light shine. The reason why this is true is because He claimed that title for Himself as He walked this earth (John 8:12 and John 9:5).

So now as we are getting ready to go back to school and we are down from camp, what are we going to do? Are we going to let that light shine that Jesus has installed in us, or are we going to cover it up? Jesus has called us to be lights in the world we live in. Let's be that light that Jesus has trusted us to be!

1. We are all called to be lights in this world we live in. What are you going to do to make sure you can live out that calling Jesus has placed on your life?

2. When letting the light of Jesus shine through you, who are some people that you want to impact?

3. PRAYER: Jesus give me the courage to let your light shine through me. At school, in my household, and everywhere I go. Thank you Jesus! Amen!
