Read To Me Daily Semester 2Sample
1SAMUEL 11-12:
Yesterday in our reading 1st Samuel, we heard of the way God arranged for Saul to meet Samuel, and how God revealed amazing details to Samuel about what would happen to Saul in the short term. Saul became king. It is such a shame that Saul fulfilled the earlier prophecy given by Samuel a few chapters back, rather than continuing to be humble like he was at the start of his reign.
PSALM 96:
Today’s poem is Psalm 96. EC Olsen’s chapter on this psalm is entitled, “A Psalm which ought to give every living person a thrill!!” He’s right. This psalm is like vitamins for the soul. This is one of the most loved of all psalms.
ROMANS 4a:
Yesterday in the book of Romans, Paul arrived at the first explanation of his main point in chapter 3, verses 23-31. This happens to be a difficult passage to translate. GNT and NLT do a great job making many difficult concepts clear.
Let’s pray.
Our heavenly Father, we praise You! We sing for joy to You, because you protect us. You have changed us so that we actually desire to thank You and to sing joyful songs of praise to You. You are awesome! We bow down in worship. We kneel before You, Lord. You are our shepherd, and we praise You for caring for us. Help us not to be stubborn like the people of Israel were. We want to enter the place of rest that You have prepared for us— a rest that we can enjoy today because we believe and trust totally in our Savior Jesus. We believe today that Jesus has made us right in your sight. We thank You for the free gift of your amazing kindness to us. Help us to look deeper and meditate on all these treasures we are finding in your Word. And we thank You that your Holy Spirit will be with us today.
