HEAR // Have you ever owed a friend or your parents some money? It seems like every time you see them you’re reminded of the money you need to pay! Being indebted is no fun. But in this verse, Paul is saying there’s one kind of obligation, one kind of debt, we should live with: love. Wondering what this looks like practically? Here’s something to try: What if with every person you encountered today—every friend, teacher, coach, parent, and sibling—you thought to yourself, “I owe them. I owe them respect. I owe them kindness. I owe them value. I owe them behavior that lifts them up.” That’s a debt worth living with.
