Spread The WordSample
Say this out loud: People learn about Jesus when I love them God’s way.
Imagine a friend broke your favorite toy. What do you think would happen if you started yelling and telling them they are terrible person and that you are never going to let them borrow a toy again? What do you think they’re going to say? Now imagine telling them, “I let you borrow my favorite toy, and you broke it. I still like you, but I’m really upset. Can we talk about it?” Do you think they would be more open to talk about what happened and come up with a solution?
How we talk to people matters. It’s important to be open and truthful, but the way we say things matters. If we speak with love and gentleness, others will listen more to what we have to say. The same is true when we share the Good News. It’s important that we are truthful, but it’s also important that we share it with love.
Watch the video, play Back and Forth to help you memorize 1 Corinthians 13:1, and remember that how you share the Good News matters.
Back and Forth
1. Read 1 Corinthians 13:1 out loud with a friend.
2. Say the first word of the verse very loudly.
3. Let your friend say the next word loudly.
4. Repeat, taking turns for each word, until you’ve said the whole verse.
5. See how fast you can say the verse with your friend!
Talk It Over:
How could you share the Good News in a way that might make someone not want to listen to you?
How could you share it in a loving way?
