When Paul was appointed by God as a missionary to the Gentiles he was told that he was being sent to ‘open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins’ (Acts 26:18). The conversion of all unbelievers involves this same rescue from being under the power of Satan.
