Year of the Bible: Part Eight of TwelveSampl
God is the Foremost Defender of Justice
This is another book written in poetic form. Read this book out loud and hear what the Spirit of the Lord will speak to you.
Our culture is obsessed with justice: justice for the oppressed, marginalized, and poor and justice for those deprived of their rights. Nahum addresses all of these in this important book.
Our God is not distant and unaware of the events of our time. He is actively engaged in the affairs of our days. His influence on current events seems absent or, at best, slow from our perspective. However, the Word of God reveals that evil will be judged. God will be loyal to those who are loyal to Him. He will intervene and confirm that He is Lord God Almighty: there is no one like Him!
Question: Do you—do we—really believe this? If we truly believe that our God is sovereign in all things, then how should we conduct our day and how should we respond to evil and injustices we long to see corrected?
Prayer: Pray aloud and ask, "Father, what is Your will for me in these matters? How would You have me influence those You have placed in my life?" Write down what you hear from the Lord—ponder it and meditate on it. Then seek His grace to act in ways that honor the name of Jesus.
