NT 260: Part Threeنموونە
When a person trusts Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in them. The Holy Spirit gives the person at least one spiritual gift, or special ability, that is supposed to be used to help the church grow stronger. The gifts listed here are examples, not a complete list of all the gifts the Holy Spirit could give. Apparently, some in the church of Corinth have decided the gift they have been given is more important than the gifts given to other people. Paul lets them know all of the gifts are important in order for the church to function properly.
Thinking one person’s role in the church is more important than someone else’s is a common problem. We tend to put higher value on more public roles like pastors and worship leaders. The church needs everyone doing their part from the most public to those that serve behind the scenes. All roles are equally valued by God.
