5 Days of Making Your Comebackنموونە
DAY 4 – ACTING ON YOUR FAITH
While few of us can relate to the pain that comes from an incurable disease, many of us know what it is like to lose hope. In those moments, it feels like life itself has no cure. When they appear to be getting consistently worse rather than better, your emotions and will are tested.
These are the moments in which God tests us to see if we can see past our circumstances and trust Him. When we “lift up our eyes” to the One who can save, we can have our comeback.
But what happens in those moments when we fail the test? We make bad decisions in our lives and those decisions come with painful consequences. String a few of these bad decisions together, and soon, hopelessness sets in.
But just because you fail the test doesn’t mean that God gives up on you. As a believer, you can expect a retest. God is a God of second chances, and He wants to see you succeed! In these retests, you will face similar challenges that caused your failure the first time to see if you are ready and willing to put your trust in Him the second time.
Elisha’s servant Gehazi was a greedy man. In 2 Kings 5, his greed was tested when Elisha refused payment of a large sum of money from Naaman for healing his leprosy. When Gehazi conned Naaman out of a chunk of his money, Elisha struck him with leprosy. But years later, God put him in a similar situation, where he was tempted to steal the plunder of an abandoned city. But he remembered his first failure, choosing this time to share the spoils with his brothers and sisters.
Friend, the best advice I can give you when you are in these seasons is this: being tested is not a bad thing; rather it is the way God matures His children. Let God test you, since “the testing of your faith produces endurance” (James 1:3).
