DAY 7 OF 21

Know What You Have and Why You Have It

It is interesting to hear people use the word hell. For some folks, it's merely a metaphor to describe something hot. For others, it's used as a support word to add venom or strength to a statement. In Hip Hop, hell has been portrayed as something approachable—like a party where all our friends will be after life. But I wonder if we'd use it as casually if we believed what God said about it. Though the opinions may vary, the scriptures make it clear that however bad you think hell is, it is indeed much worse. It is not Satan's house—even he doesn't want to be there (that's why scripture says he will be thrown in Hell later)!

Anyone enjoying anything good on earth is doing so by sipping from the cup of goodness that God has made available to every living creature. Worse than fire, hell is the eternal absence of every drop of that revealed goodness of God! We can never exaggerate how bad it is to be separated from God. If that's true, then logic follows that we also can never exaggerate how good it is to be united with God! Every good thing we enjoy, from food to family, is a taste of what we've got in fullness in our saving relationship with Jesus: never-ending and all-satisfying access to life and life more abundantly!

Take that serious. Bite into [your burrito] knowing that the joy it brings is from God's kindness, and it whispers of a greater joy that will never be terminated. It will be fully realized when we see our Savior face to face. Take time today and reflect on all the good God has made available to you, great and small. See Him in them all and thank Him that your good will never be stripped from you, but is and will be multiplied forever. No bad thing in this life can match what we've been saved from and every good thing reminds us our best things are yet to come.

Prayer: Lord, no one has any good apart from you. For you are the source! Help me to embrace that reality today. I deserved Hell, but you have given me Life in your Son.

About this Plan

KB - 100

Respected as an artist and as a lyricist, every word out of the mouth of rapper KB is God inspired. With his 2014 EP '100', the Reach Records emcee breaks down the idea behind always giving God 100% in everything. He says, "To do everything unto Him is to work like our lives are not ours but His. It's when we give "100" God is honored and this world impacted. That's what my new EP is all about."
