Once a constituent of the Soviet Union, Turkmenistan, with a population of over 6,000,000 people, endured a period marked by the confiscation of property, suppression of its people, and eradication of the nomadic lifestyle cherished by the Turkmen. Despite its claim to be a presidential republic and secular democracy, the administration often adopts authoritarian practices that compromise human rights and religious freedoms.

Sunni Islam and Russian Orthodoxy are recognized as the only legal religions, resulting in unregistered religious gatherings facing prohibition and severe consequences. However, these challenges have only served to strengthen the Turkmen Church. The Bible is currently being translated into Turkmen, and many have hope for an increased spread of the Gospel upon its completion.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for more workers to hear God’s call to be sent to Turkmenistan and for more churches to be planted in the power and authority of God’s Word and the Spirit’s powerful gifts and fruit.
• Pray for a supernatural revival of faith in Jesus for the nation, that those searching for truth and fulfillment for their life’s purpose would be compelled to look to Him for answers.
• Pray for easier access to modern translations of the Bible in Cyrillic and Latin scripts. Declaring in Jesus’ Name the opening of doors for greater access to His Word and more opportunities to hear the Gospel of His salvation, healing, and freedom.
• Pray for the nation’s stability, asking that its government leaders walk with integrity, respect ancient cultures, and be open to religious freedom for all citizens.
• Pray that the region’s people will encounter Christ through sensitive but bold believers, supernatural encounters with Him in dreams and visions, and because of vibrant, Spirit-led gatherings of God’s people.

Dear Lord Jesus...Oh, how You love the people of Turkmenistan, and this area of the globe is not forgotten by You. Today, I pray for Your Church to have a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, a greater sense of Your purpose and call upon each individual’s life, and be awakened, strengthened, and fed as Your Word is translated and spread throughout the nation. I also bring before You the youth of Turkmenistan. Through relationships, social media, and whatever means You choose to reach them, I ask for many to look for answers that can only be found in You. In closing, I pray for Your workers there to be encouraged, enthralled with Your presence, and place a priority upon Your Word to be filled with You from the inside out. I ask these things in Your Sovereign Name, Jesus. Amen!
