How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Berber Morocco was conquered by Muslim Arabs after 684 AD. In modern times, Morocco fell under the protectorate status of France and Spain. Independence was achieved in 1956, culminating in the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in this nation of 37,800,000.

Authorities closely monitor Christians, notably leading to imprisonments and expulsions of workers in 2010. Prejudice against Christians remains pervasive. To prevent religious tensions, the people and the government of Morocco strive to keep Christian activities discreet. The government opposes the emergence of an indigenous Moroccan Church. Still, a growing number of Moroccan believers convene in clandestine house churches. However, maintaining unity among scattered Christians who are often isolated from one another proves challenging.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Ask Father for unity among the local church instead of fear and lack of trust with one another. Pray for openness, trust, and reconciliation among the various church leaders and for their efforts to promote unity to be successful.
• Prayer for those involved in a national prayer movement to remain steadfast as they pray for hope in Christ to spread throughout the nation. Ask for them to stay strong in hope and power in the Holy Spirit themselves.
• Speak in Jesus’ Name to open doors of divine connections between believers and those hungry to hear and learn more about Him. Ask for the ruling politicians to lead the government to allow true freedom of belief.
• Pray for favor with the citizens and Moroccan government that businesses run by Christian workers will have far-reaching effects for the Gospel. Also, ask that these workers have miraculous ease in obtaining and extending visas to stay in the country.
• Pray for the mercy of God to pour into the country, releasing people from religious law that binds them and keeps their hearts and minds veiled to the Gospel.

Dear Heavenly Father...I come before You this day to lift up the nation of Morocco. You have sent your children for many years to bring the good news, and yet there is still much stony ground. Please encourage Your faithful servants living in this nation to remember that Isaiah 52:7 is being fulfilled because of their persistence, their presence, and most of all, the presence of the Holy Spirit within them. In Jesus’ Glorious Name, I break down barriers of fear that hold people back from running to You with arms wide open. Have Your way this day and move mountains of unbelief to draw multitudes in Morocco to Your amazing grace and embrace! Amen.
