Stuck in Sin

I think one of the most common and acknowledged ways that the enemy fights against us is through sin. I mean, it’s the thing that got Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden of Eden in the first place. It’s what keeps many Christians stuck in the middle of the fight. The enemy wants you to believe that you can't overcome your struggles. He wants you to think that your past will keep you from being with Jesus. He whispers lies like, "Jesus might have died, but certainly not for that sin."

All of those things are lies. Jesus died to cover ALL sins. Past, present, and even future. None of us will ever live perfect lives. That’s where grace comes in. Without it, we are doomed.

Grace is free. It's God's gift to us. We can do nothing to earn it, and we definitely don't deserve it. Grace is an expression of how much God loves us.

But what do we do when the enemy stands before us with temptations?
James gives a progression of how sin works. Desire first, then sin, then death. But there's hope! We can overcome sin by stopping the temptations at the desire phase! We can stand against it. The problem is that the cycle feels never-ending when we are stuck in our sin. But we serve a God who loves us, and we see in scripture that there is ALWAYS a way out. You are never so stuck in your sin that Jesus can't help you. He’s the way out. The truth is we can't fight against sin in our own strength. We're weak. But with the Holy Spirit's strength, we can flee from temptation and sin, run to God, and ruin the enemy’s plan against us!
