Forgiveness Is...

DAY 2 OF 9

Forgiveness is Healing

Salaam!

Yesterday, we discussed the importance of forgiving those who have wronged us. Over the next three days, I’ll share some genuinely inspiring testimonies of people who forgave the unforgivable. If they can do it, so can you!

Gladys Staines is the widow of an Australian missionary, Graham Staines. After selflessly serving the poor and lepers in Odisha for 15 years, Graham and their two young sons were tragically burned alive by a mob of political and religious activists.

Despite this unimaginable loss, Gladys, along with her daughter, decided to stay in India and continue the work she and her husband had been doing. Not only did she stay, but she also decided to forgive the men who killed her family! 😮

In Gladys’ words:

"I have forgiven the killers and have no bitterness because forgiveness brings healing, and our land needs healing from hatred and violence. God in Christ has forgiven me and expects His followers to do the same. The Bible says: ‘To whomsoever you forgive their sins will be forgiven’ (John 20:23). Therefore, in the light of eternity, we all need forgiveness of our sins to enter heaven.

Her statement made international headlines, and her words were published in national newspapers ! What an incredible testimony! Her act of forgiveness opened the door for millions of people to receive the good news of Christ and read Scripture in the newspaper that day.

If Gladys Staines could forgive her offenders, I know you can forgive yours too.

Let’s look at that list you made yesterday. Is there anyone else whose name should be on it? Did you leave a name off because you thought you could never forgive them? It’s time! We’ll continue this journey of forgiveness together! 🤝

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
