Sermon on the Mount: The Beatitudesنموونە
Day 25:
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. - Matthew 5:11-12
Rejoicing in persecution
Persecution for the sake of Christ is not something we naturally celebrate. Yet, Scripture calls us to rejoice when we suffer for His name. 1 Peter 4:13-14 says, “But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” This joy comes from knowing that we share Christ’s sufferings and that His presence is with us.
Rejoicing in persecution is a supernatural response from a heart deeply rooted in God’s love. It means viewing trials as opportunities to glorify God and grow in faith. While the pain of rejection or opposition is accurate, we can find joy in the assurance that our suffering has a purpose and that God is using it to accomplish His greater plans.
When we rejoice in trials, we reflect the hope and strength that come from a life devoted to Jesus. Let us ask God for the grace to see persecution as a blessing and to embrace it with a heart full of praise.
Prayer focus:

About this Plan
The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most incredible passages of scripture in the entire Bible. It is the longest passage of Jesus speaking without interruption. The Beatitudes, or attitudes of supreme blessing, are a roadmap for our lives, teaching us to reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in every interaction. Throughout this devotional, we will spend three days on each beatitude, ending with a focus on applying the entirety of it to our daily lives.
