Prayers of the Bible

DAY 26 OF 32

How do you need to seek the counsel and wisdom of God?

Today’s reading is about a prayer from the book of Romans.

We often go to God for a peace which surpasses all understanding; or for wisdom that goes beyond all knowledge and expectation. And our posture can be full of praise and expectation because He is so worthy of it! There is nothing He isn’t aware or Lord over. He's intimately aware of what’s needed. Paul here is actively praising God for who He is and His character, which is a beautiful reminder to think about who we are praying to, not just what we can pray for.

Just take a moment and reflect on this reality for a moment; that there is nothing in this life that God doesn’t have wisdom over and counsel for.
That thing that happened last year that you are so proud of, but didn’t share with people? He knows, and He guided you.
That complex relationship that you can’t quite figure out how to heal or make right? He knows and can guide you.

God tells us in James 1 that if anyone lacks wisdom to ask God who gives generously. What a privilege it is to know that the One we serve and the One we love has perfect judgement, has full counsel, whose wisdom is deep and rich, and all things are from to and for Him.

Today, ponder this: We all need wisdom, and today before you ask for it, first spend time praising God for who He is. Look back at where you saw Him firsthand share His wisdom with you; and have that fuel your praise.
