The Bible OverBrew - Bible in a Yearنموونە
Week 16. Day 3. 2 Kings 18-20.
Now Israel are in exile, the narrative from here to the end of 2 Kings is focussed on Judah (the southern kingdom) who will not themselves go into exile for another hundred years or more.
Ch 18-20 Hezekiah and the attack on Jerusalem.
The book of Isaiah uses Ahaz (ch16) as an example of someone who doesn’t trust God, and Hezekiah as an example of someone who does!
These chapters describe Sennacherib’s attack on Judah and Jerusalem. Sennacherib was the powerful king of Assyria, and the Rabshakeh was his army commander. They besieged Jerusalem with over 185000 troops! (19:35)
As you read these chapters, note what is said about Hezekiah and, in particular, how he demonstrates his trust in God.
(Who to trust is a key question in this section: e.g. 18v19, 20, 22, 30)
NOTE: Days 1-5 of each week contain the scripture reading for that week. Day 6 has just the 'key chapters'. If you want a briefer version of this plan that still takes you through the whole Bible, you could just read the key chapters featured on day 6. Day 7 has the podcast video where we discuss the week's reading.

About this Plan
The Bible OverBrew is a friendly virtual book group, helping you read the Bible in big chunks, preferably with a mug of tea! Maybe you've tried to read through the Bible before, but gave up when it felt confusing or too intense? We are here to help you! We provide notes and questions to guide your reading, and note ‘key chapters’ if you don’t have time to read it all. In our podcast at the end of each week we draw out the key themes, and how it all points to Christ. We’d love you to join us!
