3 Steps to Being a KINGDOM BUILDER in Your Life Today - Part 2نموونە
Today, we reach the end of our 5-letter guide to living as a Kingdom Builder in your daily life at home, around town, and at work: the second letter “S” in the word "BLESS."
This letter is the how-to-do-it part of being a Kingdom-building Christian, telling us to “Serve others.”
Once again, this leads us to Jesus himself as your example. Not only did Jesus see others as loved by God and created in His image, but he also viewed his own role as that of servant rather than master (see Philippians 2:3-8).
You may go for a walk in the forest, along the sea, or up the mountains and claim a great spiritual experience of loving God.
You may attend church, pray with your family, participate in a small group, help fellow believers, and claim that this is how you love and serve God.
That may all be true, but to serve like Jesus did, you need to go further: loving and serving your neighbor as well.
Remember the story of the Good Samaritan referenced in the last day of our “NICER” series? No matter what your job, where you live, or who you hang out with, each person you encounter daily is your neighbor – to love and serve.
This is true even if that “neighbor” sabotages your work, speaks ill about you behind your back, or makes your life difficult.
Not an easy task, is it? But let’s check in again with the Bible – it has some really practical advice to help:
- Keep an eternal perspective. Don’t stress about worldly issues; rise above. You have been placed right where you are because God wants you to touch the lives of those you meet. Check Philippians 3:20.
- Be who God created you to be, not conform to the culture where you find yourself. Be the same person at work, home, church, or friends. Be authentic, not political. Check Romans 12:2.
- Relationships are important, so invest in them. Do this for the sake of helping others and serving as the hands and feet of God, not for your own gain. Check Philippians 2:3-8 again.
- Get out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to approach others, especially when you feel a prompting from God. Then, trust His Holy Spirit for the right words at the right time. Check Luke 12:12.
Jesus was God in the flesh on earth, yet he stooped down to take on the job of servant, even washing his disciples’ dirty, smelly feet – including those of his betrayer Judas Iscariot! (see John 13:12-17).
Being asked to “Serve others” might be the most difficult of the five concepts contained in our guide word BLESS, but it is exactly where God wants to use you to reach others!
How can you BLESS others in your life today?
