3 Steps to Being a KINGDOM BUILDER in Your Life Today - Part 2نموونە
Following our guideword “BLESS,” we started with prayer and then looked to see how God answered that prayer with opportunities for you to “BLESS“ others.
Today, we look at the letter “E,” which reminds us to “Exercise obedience” to God's call, wherever we may be.
This is where it could get scary.
After all, if God shows you the opportunities you’re praying for, then you really need to follow through, don’t you? Otherwise, you’re being disobedient, right?
Ouch! Being a Christian isn’t always easy, is it?
Stepping out in obedience—all throughout your day—is what you, as a Christ-follower, are called to do, helping build the Kingdom of God on earth. It is not enough to be obedient in the “safe” places of church, family, or small groups.
Remember, Jesus spent more time in public, where people needed him most, and not isolated in the synagogue. In the same way, where you are all through the week is also where the action is. It is YOUR mission field.
Jesus chose 12 ordinary men with no special prior training as his disciples. In the same way, God has chosen you. You are part of His plan to BLESS others you may interact with throughout the day.
There’s no getting around it.
Financial sacrifice to the church or time spent in church activities is important, but that is not your primary mission. Do not allow these to distract you from the call to obedience in being used to BLESS others in your daily life.
Not sure about that? Then check the story of the downfall of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15:17-26 to see that obedience is better than sacrifice.
Therefore, when God has prepared a good work for you to do as part of your daily life – whether at home, at work, or elsewhere – and He has revealed it to you, then it is your responsibility to obey and follow through.
After all, God has brought YOU to the places where you find yourself each day especially to serve as His hands and feet to BLESS those you interact with. Not your pastor, missionary, or small group leader – they aren’t there and likely won’t meet many of the people you interact with anyway.
So remember….God has chosen YOU to be the person to BLESS those you interact with, and He won’t let you down when you seek to glorify Him in that way.
Working to BLESS others will not always be easy – especially in the face of opposition. In these cases, check the words of Peter, who himself faced plenty of difficult situations:
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. –1 Peter 3:9, NIV
No matter the difficulties, there’s no better mission field for you than right where you already are. A summer mission trip to a faraway land might be less threatening, but that is not your primary calling.
Can you “Exercise obedience” to the call to BLESS others in your daily life at home, work, or wherever you find yourself today?
