The Deliverer Has Come: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Kidsنموونە
Day 4: Following the Light
“Hello, little one,” the woman said. “Did you follow the star here, just like the wise men?”
Anika nodded.
The woman smiled at her and said, “Come and see.”
Have you ever turned on a flashlight in the middle of a dark room or night? That light, just like the bright star in Anika’s journey, helps us see what’s around us so that we can walk forward and figure out where to go.
Jesus says that He is the light of the world. We can trust in Him and follow Him, and in Him there is no darkness. He invites us to come and see Him, to follow Him each day. As we know and learn to trust Him, we can also invite our friends to come and see Jesus.
Questions/Activities:
- Go into a room that is dark, and turn on a flashlight. Name the things that you can see that you couldn’t see before.
- Who is someone in your life who might not know that Jesus is good and can be trusted as the light of the world? Pray for that person to know Jesus. Ask for God to show you how to share about Jesus with that person.
Prayer:
Jesus, I pray for my friend ______ to know that You are the light of the world and that You love them very much. Please show me how to share You with them.

About this Plan
Inspired by the picture book of the same name, this devotional will help families with young children learn about the hope and promise of Jesus’s birth. Just as Advent prepares us to remember Jesus’s coming to a people and a world that was waiting for rescue, children will be invited to prayerfully trust in God and wait on Him to answer prayers as they wait.
