When sharing wisdom across generations, an elder often begins by saying to a child or younger group, ‘Listen to me,’ ‘gather around,’ or something similar.

This isn’t meant to be patronising or paralysing, but is issued as an invitation to sit at the feet of someone older, wiser and with a deep well of knowledge to learn. It’s a statement of hope from someone who loves you and longs to bless you by passing on what they know.

How beautiful to think that God is doing and saying the same things in this scripture - to you. Will you join him today?
