Making the Decision to Follow Jesus Through Baptism
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20 (ESV).
Water baptism is a public declaration of our decision to follow Jesus Christ. It symbolizes our commitment to living a life surrendered to Him, no longer defined by our past but by the life of Christ within us. As Galatians 2:20 reveals, our old self has been crucified with Christ, and we now live by faith in the One who gave Himself for us.
Have you made the decision to fully commit your life to Jesus? If so, baptism is the next step to publicly declare your faith and new life in Christ. It is a bold statement that you are living for Him and no longer for yourself.
If you have already been water baptized, let this serve as a reminder of your decision to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Reflect on how you can continue living out this commitment every day.
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for the opportunity to follow Jesus and publicly declare my faith through baptism. Help me live each day for You, knowing that my life is no longer my own, but I now live by faith in Jesus Christ. Please give me the boldness to inspire others to make this decision as well. In Jesus name, Amen.
