What Is Water Baptism?
"Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:3-4 (ESV).
Water baptism is a profound act of faith and obedience, symbolizing our identification with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. Through baptism, we declare that our old self is gone and we have risen to new life in Christ as seen in Galatians 3:27 and Colossians 2:12. Water baptism is a public testimony and declaration that we have chosen to follow Jesus.
What does water baptism mean in your own journey with Christ? If you have not been baptized yet, begin to pray about making this public declaration of your faith. If you have been baptized, recommit to walking in the newness of life that it represents.
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for water baptism and the new life it represents. Help me to fully understand its significance and live out my faith daily in light of my new identity in Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
