The Purpose of Christmasنموونە
Have you ever hoped for something only to be disappointed on the other side? This happens throughout our lives, but it seems to happen more often during the Christmas season than at any other time. We hope to find a certain gift under our tree, and we’re disappointed when we realize it isn’t there. We hope to spend the holidays with our family, but we’re let down when they make other plans. We hope our children will appreciate all we do to make the season special, but we’re let down when they fight and bicker the entire time.
Any time life doesn’t go as planned, we’re faced with a choice—we can put our hope in our plans, or we can trust God’s plan. That’s one thing the Christmas story reminds us is true: God set a plan in motion thousands of years ago to bring Jesus to the world to save us from our sins and rescue us from our separation from God. Though the people who were alive couldn’t see it at the time, they were living with the plan in motion. They were waiting, looking, hoping in that plan! And still today, on the other side of the plan that brought Jesus to our world, we can look back on it as a reminder that we can always trust God’s plan for our lives.
Is there a part of your life that you need help trusting God’s plan for? Take that to the Lord in prayer, asking for God’s help, not just to show you His plan, but to also trust that plan for your life.
