DAY 1 OF 6

Paying for college

Paying for college is one of the most significant financial investments most people and families will make in their lifetime. It has a price tag similar to paying for a wedding or purchasing a home.

Research shows that over the last four decades, the cost of attending college has nearly tripled and doesn't show signs of slowing down. The skyrocketing cost of living is a concern for young people and families who feel overwhelmed financially by the prospect of pursuing a college education.

Admittedly, these factors can cause anxiety when you consider the financial implications. It's not uncommon to hear people asking the following questions:

  • "How are we ever going to pay for college?"
  • "Where will the money come from?"
  • "What are we going to do?"

When faced with financial pressure, looking to God for answers can become an afterthought rather than your first response. You may be tempted to yield to fear instead of faith.

If you or a loved one are dealing with the financial pressure of paying for college, don't focus on your limited resources. I encourage you to focus instead on the source of your unlimited supply: Jehovah Jireh—your Provider.

Look to God as your source. Trust in Him and refuse to worry, fear, or have anxiety about the finances for college. When fear knocks at the door of your heart, respond with faith in God.

God's wisdom can help you make sound financial decisions and greatly favor you and your child in receiving scholarships, grants, and all the financial resources you will need to cover the cost of college.

Even when it seems like you have run out of time or there's nothing you can do, decide in your heart today to speak faith and victory only. God can still do it. God is able.
