Romans: Week 2 – Day 1
When Paul opens Romans 13 with, “Obey authority,” he doesn’t say that lightly. You may be thinking Paul didn’t understand how corrupt leaders and candidates can be. But actually, he understands completely. The Romans talked about a good democracy game, but the emperor, Caesar, believed he was god, crimes were punishable by crucifixion, and non-citizens had no rights at all.
We may not agree with some (or any) of our current leaders, but Romans 13 tells us that God put those leaders in place for a purpose. Obeying God means obeying and respecting the leaders he sets before us.

About this Plan
From Genesis to Revelation, “God’s Redemption Story” outlines the narrative of God’s plan for the reconciliation of humanity. This 12-part reading plan summarizes the story of the Bible. After the gospels, the New Testament's focus becomes the formation of the Church, its mission, and its implications in our lives.
