The King of Israelنموونە
Day 4 - Restoring Israel's Glory
The King of Israel has yet another task. He must put Jerusalem back on the map, and the land that was desolate and empty for so long must regain its original beauty. Since Jews have been returning to Israel and making the hills and mountains flourish there again, they have been speaking of the "redemption of the land". That this is happening now is like being able to hear the footsteps of the Messiah on His way to us.
We learn from this prophecy and many others that salvation also has an earthly aspect. If we die before the Kingdom has come, there is a place for us in heaven as well. But once the Kingdom of God dawns everything will play out here. Jerusalem will be jewel on the earth again and that is where Jesus will return. On Mount Zion, the celebration will begin for all the nations. We humans are not made for heaven, no matter how beautiful it is there. Our hands and feet, our eyes and our ears, our whole body was created for a life here. Even when we are changed into the image of God's Son in the future, we will live here, in a renewed creation with Israel and Jerusalem as the shining center. That is where the King of Israel will reign.
Thank God today for His promises about this glorious future and pray that this promise may soon be fulfilled.
