God's Promises to Youنموونە
God Delights to Give
“The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, ‘Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.’” (Genesis 13:14-15)
This was a special blessing for a significant moment. Abraham had resolved a family dispute, urging, "Let there be no strife, I pray, between you and me, for we are brethren." And thus, he received the blessing reserved for peacemakers. The Lord, the giver of peace, delights in extending His grace to those who seek and pursue peace. If we long for closer communion with God, we must also strive to maintain peace in our relationships.
Abraham had shown great generosity to his nephew by allowing him to choose the land. When we sacrifice for the sake of peace, the Lord will abundantly reward us. Just as far as Abraham could see, he could claim, and we can do the same through faith. Though Abraham had to wait for the actual possession, the Lord had already promised the land to him and his descendants. Boundless blessings are ours through the covenant. Everything belongs to us. When we please the Lord, He opens our eyes to see that all things, present and future, are ours. We belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
