What to Pray for Your Children

DAY 9 OF 16

What to pray for your children

Practical guidelines (6)

Pray for their physical and spiritual health and protection, as well as for protection against demonic attacks. “May the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for He who calls you is faithful” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). “Pray, too, that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone is a believer. But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:2-3).

Pray for the right friends and their future spouses. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones” (Proverbs 3:5-8). “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need” (Proverbs 17:17). “There are ‘friends’ who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).

Pray that they will be able to forgive and will not allow any root of bitterness to spring up in their lives. “Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many” (Hebrews 12:15).
