The Morning Hunt

DAY 4 OF 14

The Morning Hunt – Day Four – The Importance of The Pride

Sometimes, a lion's superior senses are insufficient to deal with the day's challenges alone. He must cooperate with the rest of the Pride to have success. Whether it is a large water buffalo or a pack of hyenas, lions are not invincible. Lions understand the importance of the Pride and are rarely seen alone. If a lion is spotted alone, there are usually more nearby. Often, the need for the Pride is not for protection only, but teamwork allows them to accomplish more, assure reproduction, be more effective, and risk less injury. A lion only has a one in five chance of catching prey when hunting by itself but is twice as likely to find success when hunting in its pack.

We cannot always rely on our gifts alone, whether natural or spiritual. Theology is best formed in community, which is often how victory is obtained. God said it is not good for Man to be alone. God knows, and we know that we can better fight off our enemy in the community. It is in our community that an exchange of ideas happens that allows for more effective outcomes in our day-to-day lives. The healthiest communities are where discipleship occurs, and the result is healthy reproduction (evangelism) of the Body of Christ. The Word teaches us that our enemy also acts like a lion looking to see who is most vulnerable to attack; the individual is more likely to be attacked than the group.

This week, take the challenge to become a more effective Christian by becoming part of a community like your church or a small group. The Bible teaches the benefits of working together, and those benefits are even greater when we work together with God. Consider who is or is not in your Pride and ask God to be in the center of those relationships.

Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV - 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25 MSG - Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.

1 Peter 5:8 NLT - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8 MSG - Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce and would like nothing better than to catch you napping.

About this Plan

The Morning Hunt

The King of the Jungle. The symbol of Jesus and Kingdoms throughout history. The lion is one of the most majestic and awe-inspiring animals on the planet. Just as the lion is unique and designed to reign, so is God’s design for Manhood. The Morning Hunt is a 14-day Men’s Devotional that looks to teach valuable and practical lessons from a lion’s perspective.
