Following Christنموونە
The Call
To know Christ is one thing. To invite Him into our life as Lord and Saviour is another thing. To follow Him is a whole other thing. It will require a certain commitment and discipline. Picture yourself following the instructions of Google Maps as you navigate the route to a place you haven’t been to before. You will need to meticulously follow the instructions of the voice leading you in order for you to make it to your destination. A few times the app may even lead you to the wrong place due to some error, but with Jesus, He never misleads you. You may feel like He’s taking you off the beaten track, but no matter where He leads you He stays with you.
We live today in the era of social media, where we are so aware of who we follow and who follows us. If someone we follow shares content that we don’t agree with, we have the option to unfollow them. If someone following us tends to get too close for comfort, we can always block them. A life that is intertwined with Jesus is quite different, though! It means tuning our lives to His voice and leaning wholly on Him for everything! If you choose to unfollow Him or block Him, you are the one who misses out on all that He has planned for you. He doesn’t stop waiting for you, though.
Even when the going gets rough and you sense that God is working on a hardened part of your heart, you must choose to keep following Him. Even when you feel like resisting His healing touch or His convicting voice, He never stops drawing us to Himself. Following Him requires that we stay as close to Him as possible so that we can keep our grip on His hand while keeping our senses alert to His gentle guidance.
