Day 5 - Move Again In Our Workplace
Did you know, God wants to move in your workplace? Did you know, God wants to be involved in your week?
It can be too easy to leave God out of our careers. Many of us have experienced the struggle. We go to church, sense His presence, and feel very spiritual. But when Monday comes around, the environment is different and we are surrounded by “pagans”. We wonder, “Where is God?” or even more likely, we completely forget about God.
It’s comfortable to ask God to move in our hearts, family, and church. But what about God moving in our workplace? How do we even begin believing God for this?
Two ways we can work towards seeing God move in our workplace are through our prayers and fellowship.
First, if we devote ourselves to prayer and have an alert mind and thankful heart, we can begin to see God in our “nine to five”. This kind of prayer isn’t the proverbial “Hail Mary” but requires intentionality, with purposeful time dedicated to asking for Heaven's influence on our workplace.
The second way is through fellowship. Make the most of the other believers around you, whether they are in your workplace or not, to sharpen one another for the mission field you’ve been called to.
We can often fall into a pattern of thinking that our workplace or colleagues are beyond redemption. But God’s plan for our workplace goes beyond our immediate stresses and frustrations. He wants us to be the light in a very dark world, and perhaps that light to be shone into the lives of those we occupy our workplace with.
Meditation Questions:
- Do you know why God has placed you in your particular workplace setting?
- Have you ever had a situation in your workplace where you needed God to move in His power and love on your behalf? What happened?
- What kind of things can we pray over ourselves so that we can become salt and light in our workplaces?
About this Plan
Over the next few days, we will discover together how God wants to move in our hearts, families, churches, and workplaces. Maybe one of these areas seems more significant to your current season, and you need God to move and break through in a major way. This plan will help us discover and remember that God is able and willing to do more.
