Stay calm.
"But Jesus walked right through the crowd and went on His way." (Luke 4:30 NIRV)
Ha, I love this Bible verse! So, what had actually happened? Jesus had just gone through a really tough time because He had spent 40 days hungry in the desert (see Luke 4:1-2 NIV)
That alone would have been challenging enough, but then the devil came and tested Him multiple times.
I'm sure you’ve also experienced desert times in your life. Those times when things are already hard, and then the devil comes along to tempt you at your weakest point.
But even in those difficult times, Jesus remained steadfast. He nourished Himself with the Word of God and responded to every temptation with: "It is written…" (Luke 4:4 NIRV) ... and He resisted!
He emerged victorious from that desert time, and people loved Him. It says: "Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips… " (Luke 4:22 NLT)
Think of that in your own life. When the tide suddenly turns and everything is good for the moment. But you don't even have to turn the page in your Bible, and we’re already hearing something completely different from those people in the story:
"All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff." (Luke 4:28-29 NIV)
Well, that's a drastic change! People can be fickle like that, I'm sure you've experienced it too. Did Jesus respond in kind? No. He knew who He was and He knew the truth.
The Bible says, "But He walked right through the crowd and went on His way. (from Luke 4:30 NIV) You always have a choice: You can get upset—or calmly keep moving forward.
How do you accomplish that? Orient yourself to God's Word and not to the words of people: "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." (Psalm 119:105 NIV)
You are a miracle!
