Holy Week: Symbols of Suffering and Life

DAY 3 OF 7

Reflection Prayer

Gratitude: Begin the prayer by grounding yourself in gratitude. Become aware of moments of the day for which you are thankful. Thank God for these gifts, as expressions of His love.

Ask for Light: Pray for the grace to see your day through the lens of the Gospel passage. Ask for insight into how the themes of love, sacrifice, and recognition of Christ have played out in your daily life.

Review the Day: With the passage in mind, review your day.

Love and Devotion: Recall moments when you showed love and devotion to God and to others. Consider the quality of your giving; was it like the woman's—generous and without reservation?

Recognition of Christ: Reflect on how you recognized Christ in others today. Did you acknowledge and honor His presence in those around you, even in the most unlikely situations?

Sacrifice: Think about the sacrifices you made today. Did true love inspire them, or were they reluctant?

Response: Talk to God about what you've noticed. If you struggled to show love and devotion, ask for His guidance and help. If you had moments of genuine giving and recognition of Christ, express your gratitude.

Hopeful Intention: Inspired by the woman's example, make a specific decision for tomorrow. It might involve showing a deeper love and devotion in your actions, recognizing Christ in every person you meet, or making a sacrifice out of love.

Conclude with a prayer of thanksgiving, and ask for the grace to live out your decision, and the love and devotion you see in Mark 14:3-9.

About this Plan

Holy Week: Symbols of Suffering and Life

During Holy Week we follow Jesus in the last days before His crucifixion. With symbols in His daily interactions, conversations, and deeds we identify with His suffering. This journey invites you to watch a devotional in the morning and do a guided reflection prayer in the evening.
