Holy Week: Symbols of Suffering and Life

DAY 1 OF 7

Whip

Reflection Prayer

Gratitude: Begin the prayer by grounding yourself in gratitude. Become aware of the blessings of the day, and thank God for His presence in your life.

Ask for Light: Pray for the grace to see the day through God's eyes, especially as you contemplate the scene from John 2:13-21, where Jesus cleanses the Temple.

Review the Day: With the scene in mind, examine your day.

God's Presence: Where did you notice God's presence today? How did you respond to His guidance and love?

Cleansing: Consider the "temples" of your life that need cleansing. What attitudes, actions, or habits do you need Jesus to overturn and purify?

Forgiveness: Acknowledge any shortcomings, especially where you have allowed your "temple" to be defiled with what does not honor God. Ask for His forgiveness and healing.

Hopeful Resolution: Inspired by Jesus' decisive action in the Temple, decide to make specific changes in your life. Pray for the grace to renew your commitment to God, becoming a temple worthy of His presence.

Conclude with a prayer of thanksgiving, and ask for the courage and grace to live out your intention.

About this Plan

Holy Week: Symbols of Suffering and Life

During Holy Week we follow Jesus in the last days before His crucifixion. With symbols in His daily interactions, conversations, and deeds we identify with His suffering. This journey invites you to watch a devotional in the morning and do a guided reflection prayer in the evening.
