The Comfort of the Psalms in the Battles of Life

DAY 6 OF 7

Jesus prays for you

“The Lord says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’”. (Psalm 110:1)

Many quotations in the New Testament prove Psalm 110 is all about Jesus. What do we gain from the fact thatJesus is seated at the right hand of God? The Bible tells us four things about that.

  • Jesus is seated at the right hand of God to speak to his Father on our behalf. “Christ… is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us” (Romans 8:34).
  • Jesus is seated at the right hand of God to watch over us from heaven and assist us in serving Him. “So then the Lord Jesus… was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs” (Mark 16:19-20).
  • Jesus is seated at the right hand of God to make it easier for us to be focused on eternal things. Because we know Jesus, and Jesus is in heaven, heaven is not a strange place anymore. “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1).
  • Jesus is seated at the right hand of God to assure us of a glorious future in which we will also reign. “The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne” (Revelation 3:21).

Does it comfort you that Jesus is in heaven at God’s right hand? How?
