5 Days of Comfort: Count Your Blessings and Stop Stressingنموونە
On Eagles’ Wings
During the story of the Exodus, God carried Israel on eagle’s wings, and he had a destination. He carried them to himself. If the lion is king of the beasts, the eagle is doubtless king of the birds. God created the eagle in a majestic form, along with a kingly profile, and he crowned it with superior strength. An eagle’s eyesight is around five times better than human vision, and it has the ability to see up to almost two miles away. Although eagles can soar at altitudes of fifteen thousand feet, they fly in long glides to conserve energy and reach speeds of up to one hundred miles per hour.
But there’s more here than the amazing wonder of the eagle. We can find comfort in the fact that it was God himself who lovingly took Israel into his capable hands and carried them to himself. And our Creator carefully and capably both carried and preserved us in Christ. He sought us, saved us, keeps us, and promises to never ever leave us or forsake us. On top of that, his Word tells us that nothing can separate us from his unfailing love. Not even death itself.
Prayer: Father, take me high on eagles’ wings and carry me closer to yourself.
