DAY 5 OF 5

ACTION
“The fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim.”

The joy of the Farmer is seeing his crop growing healthy and eventually having a bountiful harvest. I call this end process ACTION. Action is the process of doing something. For instance in a film, the script that the actor has read and become. Masculinity is not passive but active.

Godly men are driven by a passion that is fueled by the “script-ure”. They have become alive because they have yielded to the process of emergence. It is God who is the husbandman Jesus once pointed out in John 15 and we are the branches. Every branch is pruned for one of two reasons. One, for the branch that is fruitful, pruning enables that branch to bear even more fruit – this glorifies the Father. And, Two, every branch that does not bear fruit is pruned, dried up, and cast into the fire. This is not an “if”, but a “when”.

You can either be influenced by the script that the world writes; defining your actions based on political correctness and falsehood or you can allow the script (scripture) inspired by God to transform you by changing the way you think. The latter will produce a Godly Man who has come alive to his purpose and destiny.

Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. – 1 Peter 2:13-17 (NKJV)

Be of good courage; let us play the man [Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. And may the Lord do what seems good to Him. 2 Samuel 10:12 (NKJV)

Be on guard; stand firm in your faith. Act like men and be courageous; be strong. Let everything you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NKJV)

CALL TO ACTION:

Take a moment and look at the different scripts that have informed your actions.

  1. Are they all based on biblical truth?
  2. If not, what practical steps can you take to make sure that your actions are influenced by the correct script?
  3. Plugging into a local church and fellowship is a sure way to strong and steady growth in your masculine journey.

PRAYER:

Father, You have so wonderfully shown me what true masculinity really looks like. You loved me that you gave your Son. You put action to Your desire that I be reconciled to you. Your word is full of examples of men, ordinary men, who came alive to the call to shape their world for Your own glory and purpose. And so, I say yes! Yes, to who You have called me to be, yes, to Your will and Your way. May my life be a fragrance of true Godly Manhood that brings glory and honor to Your name. I ask that you surround me with men of like mind, and may I be a man of like mind to those that need that in Jesus' name, Amen.
